Terms & Privacy
Last updated 2 September 2026
Terms
Plain terms for a small service. Using thelink.id means agreeing to them.
Accounts
Pages are created by invitation. You are responsible for what appears on your page and for keeping your password to yourself. One person or business, one account, unless we agree otherwise.
What you may not publish
- Anything unlawful where you are or where the service is hosted.
- Links to malware, phishing, or pages that impersonate someone else.
- Content that harasses or endangers a person, or sexual content
involving minors.
- Automated bulk sign-ups, scraping, or attempts to break the service or
reach other people's accounts.
Pages that do any of this are suspended without notice, and the account may be deleted.
The service itself
thelink.id is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime and no warranty. It runs on shared hosting and is maintained by one person. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose — the list is short: your links.
Your content stays yours
You keep every right to what you publish. We store and display it only to run the service. Nothing you upload is used for anything else.
Ending it
You can ask for deletion at any time by writing to hello@thelink.id. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why unless doing so would help someone abuse the service.
Changes
These terms may change as the service grows. The date at the top shows when they last did.
Privacy
thelink.id is a small link-in-bio service. This page describes what it stores, why, and what it deliberately does not do.
What we store
- Your account — username, email address and a hash of
your password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be
recovered from the hash.
- Your page — display name, bio, links and the photo you
uploaded. All of it is public by design; that is the point of the page.
- Click totals — the number of times each of your links
was opened, counted per day. No information about the visitor is
recorded: no IP address, no browser fingerprint, no identifier of any
kind. The numbers are visible to you and to the site administrator.
- Sign-in attempts — to stop password guessing we keep a
keyed hash of the IP address, never the address itself, together with
the username that was tried and whether it worked. These rows are
deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Technical logs — errors are written to a file on the
server so faults can be found. They may contain the requested address
and an account id.
What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising networks.
- No analytics or trackers on profile pages. A visitor
who opens someone's page is not measured by anyone, including us. The
home page may use website statistics; profile pages never do.
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties.
- No tracking cookies. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed
in, and it exists only after you sign in.

Photos
Your photo is cropped and resized in your own browser before it is sent. The server then re-encodes it, which removes any metadata the original file carried — including the location where a phone photo was taken.
Fonts
Pages load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see the request. If that matters to you, tell us and the font can be served from our own server instead.
Deleting your data
Write to hello@thelink.id and your account, page, links and photo are deleted. Deletion is immediate and permanent; there is no recovery afterwards.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
